Leah and Christopher
Why we want to be parents:
We started trying to expand our family soon after getting married. We come from loving families, we have a lot of love to give, and we are eager to have children. However, we have experienced multiple early pregnancy losses. Doctors have been unable to provide a diagnosis or a reason for our difficulties. We have a strong desire to expand our family and view adoption as a wonderful opportunity to share our love and laughter.
What activities we look forward to doing with a child:
We are looking forward to going on walks through the neighborhood, going to the park across the street, going to their grandparents’ homes and going to get ice cream.
The people/pets who make up our family:
We have a 7-year-old Border Collie named Ace. He’s full of energy and very loving. He enjoys squeaky toys and playing fetch.
My ethnic/cultural background:
Leah is Italian, German, Irish, and English. Christopher is German, Irish, and Scottish
Family celebrations that are important to us:
We love celebrating birthdays and we celebrate holidays with both families.
Any religious identification:
We are both Catholic
Fun activities I like to do:
We love spending time together by cooking dinner, taking walks around our neighborhood, going to Sunday mass, vacationing in Mackinac Island, and trying out new dinner restaurants, mainly Mexican or Italian. Leah’s brother participates in Special Olympic sports year-round, and we try to attend as many of his games as possible. We also
enjoy going on trips a few times a year.
Where we live:
City
A few fun facts about each of me:
Christopher loves all things Harry Potter (he’s a Hufflepuff). He also enjoys being outside and he makes rosaries as a hobby.
Leah is left handed, and she enjoys the movie Christmas Vacation; it’s so silly! Additionally, she loves Italian food, especially cannolis, shopping, and listening to country music.
One thing I would like the birth family to know about me:
Our parenting philosophy involves creating a nurturing foundation. We believe in providing a loving, safe, and supportive environment for our future children to guide and support them as they grow and learn. With Leah’s brother having Down Syndrome, we are firm believers in treating everyone equally. Growing up with a sibling with special needs taught Leah compassion and advocacy skills. We aim to instill kindness and empathy. Additionally, we believe in fostering open communication, trust, and respect within the family. We plan to set boundaries and offer guidance and encouragement while allowing for independence and self-discovery.
