Katherine & Brian
Why we want to be parents: We’ve always wanted to be parents. Through the years, we have found much joy in being an uncle and aunt, godparents, teachers and mentors. The joy we’ve found in these opportunities to mentor others has strengthened our desire to grow our family. Adoption has been on our hearts and we are excited to be at this stage of the process.
What activities we look forward to doing with a child: We are looking forward to playing outside, going for walks, coloring, crafts, reading books, and playing board games. Many of our close friends have children, so we are also excited to have frequent playdates!
The people/pets who make up our family: We have two dogs named Eevee and Abigail.
Our ethnic/cultural background: We are both Caucasian.
Family celebrations that are important to us: Birthdays, Easter, and Christmas are important holidays for us. Brian’s family has an annual tradition of carving pumpkins the weekend before Halloween, and Katherine’s family has an annual tradition of chopping down a Christmas tree during Thanksgiving weekend.
Any religious identification: We are active Catholic Christians.
Fun activities we like to do: We live an active life. We like to go for walks and enjoy spending time out at coffee shops. We play a lot of games and we both enjoy crafting and reading. We also spend a lot of time with friends and family.
Where we live (city, rural, community): Suburban Detroit
A few fun facts about each of us: Katherine knows 3 languages (English, French, and Mandarin Chinese) and Brian enjoys taking history and art classes at a local college. They both really enjoy a good pot of tea, especially when prepared in the gongfu style.
One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents: We live a simple yet active life and we are surrounded by a strong and loving community of family and friends. A child would be immensely loved and supported in our home.
