Adoption Specialist
Location: Livonia, MI | Position Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
The Adoption Specialist supports children in the Michigan child welfare system who are legally free for adoption. This role focuses on helping children achieve permanency by working closely with adoptive families, courts, and community partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of up to 15 adoption cases
- Complete Adoption Family Assessments
- Provide ongoing support to youth and adoptive families
- Maintain monthly contact with families and children
- Prepare court reports and attend hearings
- Document case activity in MiSACWIS
- Coordinate placements and supervise adoption cases
- Participate in recruitment and community outreach
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field required
- BSW or MSW preferred
- Experience working with children and families preferred
- Strong organization, communication, and documentation skills
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to pass background checks
- Completion of required CWTI training
Foster Care Specialist
Location: Livonia, MI | Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote) | Position Type: Full-Time
Position Overview
The Foster Care Specialist provides case management services to children and families with a primary focus on family reunification. This role requires strong communication, organization, and the ability to support families through complex situations.
What You Will Do
- Provide case management services to children and families
- Conduct home visits and attend court hearings
- Maintain documentation in MiSACWIS
- Collaborate with families, courts, and community partners
- Support reunification efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field required
- One year of child welfare experience preferred
- Strong communication, writing, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Details
- 12 weeks of required CWTI training for new workers
- Flexible scheduling including evenings and occasional weekends
- Must have reliable transportation and clean driving record
