Ali & Odaliz
Why we want to be parents:
Becoming a parent is one of life’s greatest joys. It’s a chance to create a loving and nurturing environment for a child, watch them grow and develop into their unique person, and be there for them through life’s ups and downs. As future parents, we believe in the power of kindness, love, and support. We are committed to providing our children with a safe and secure home where they can feel loved and valued. We look forward to sharing our lives with our children and fostering a deep connection built on trust and respect. We will always provide guidance and support as they navigate life’s challenges and celebrate their successes along the way. We believe that being a parent is an incredible privilege, and we are excited to welcome a child into our family and provide them with all the love and care they deserve.
What activities we look forward to doing with a child:
As parents, we are looking forward to reading books together, going on outings to the park, zoo, or museum, going on vacations or weekend getaways, introducing them to traditions, exploring new cultures and places together. As they grow older, we will be doing arts and crafts projects, cooking or baking together, playing sports or engaging in physical activities, playing games and doing puzzles, watching movies or TV shows as a family, helping with homework or school projects, having family game nights or movie nights.
The people/pets who make up our family:
As a couple, we have built a strong foundation of love and support, and we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing home for your child. We understand that every child is unique, and we are excited to offer our undivided attention and support as they grow and develop into their person. We are excited to embark on this journey of adoptive parenting together, and we look forward to the opportunity to welcome your child into our family with open hearts. Our family and friends are also excited about the prospect of us becoming parents, and they are fully supportive of us throughout the adoption process.
Our ethnic/cultural background:
Ali was born in Lebanon and moved to the USA when he was 12 years old. Odaliz was raised in the Dominican Republic. We are both very proud of our heritage and embrace it in every aspect of our lives.
Family celebrations that are important to us:
We love spending time with our relatives during the holidays and creating memories with them. We are grateful to have a support system that embraces different traditions, both religious and cultural. We love to celebrate important days and be part of old and new traditions with our friends and relatives.
Any religious identification:
As an interfaith family, we believe that we have a unique perspective to offer as potential adoptive parents. We understand the importance of respecting and celebrating different cultures and beliefs and are committed to providing our children with a supportive and inclusive home. We believe that exposure to other religions and traditions can be a valuable learning experience for children, and we are excited to share our own rules and values with your child while learning from theirs. We are committed to fostering an open communication and mutual respect environment where your child can feel safe and supported as they navigate their beliefs and identity.
Fun activities we like to do:
Exploring new places and different restaurants as a way to discover and learn about other cultures. We love music, museums, exploring new places and cultures, spending time with relatives and friends, and creating memories together. We treasure moments and experiences from amusement parks, musicals, theater, concerts, cooking classes, painting, exploring new cities, and outdoor activities.
Where we live (city, rural, community):
We live in Downtown Detroit. We are grateful for easy access to work and cultural and sports venues. We enjoy the Riverfront and multiple parks and green spaces around us.
A few fun facts about each of us:
Ali runs, on average 6 miles every day. Odaliz LOVES music! Discovering new sounds, songs, and artists and sharing them with others- usually, you see our friends asking to introduce them to new music.
One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents:
We have a deep sense of love and compassion, and we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing home for your child. We also understand the importance of patience, as the adoption process can be a long and emotional journey for everyone involved. We have a strong sense of humor, which we believe will help us navigate the challenges of adoptive parenting with grace and positivity—being flexible and adaptable understanding that every child is unique and will require different approaches to parenting. Finally, we have a strong family and friends support system who are excited to welcome your child into our lives and offer their love and support.
