Why we want to be parents:

We have always seen our family with four children. Everyone has a buddy and no one is left out! We have decided to adopt again because currently our oldest daughter is the only member of our family that is an adoptee. We want to give her, and another child, each other to walk through life together. While our family doesn’t shy away from hard conversations and we are always listening and learning from those of color around us, we will never fully be able to understand what it is like to walk in our children’s shoes. We want them to have each other to lean on and always have someone by their side who fully knows what it means to be adopted and a person of color in our country.

What activities we look forward to doing with a child:

As a family we enjoy doing a variety of activities; everything from camping during the summer to trips to Florida to visit family & Disney World. A typical week includes lots of bike riding, drawing/painting, and impromptu ice cream trips!

The people/pets who make up our family:

We have 3 children, Caroline (6yr), Elizabeth (5yr), and Abbey (3yr). We also have 4 cats (Aisley, Reese, Gus & Tulullah) and a Labrador named Winston.

Our ethnic/cultural background:

We are both Caucasian American. Steven is from southeast MI. Erin is originally from central Florida.

Family celebrations that are important to us:

Christmas and birthdays! We celebrate all major holidays with extended family, but those two are the top!

Any religious identification:

Christian (non-denominational)

Fun activities we like to do:

Steven enjoys golfing and watching sports. He is a big University of Michigan fan! Erin enjoys baking, running and doing crafts with our kids!

Where we live:

We live in a small, rural town in southeast Michigan close to lots of family.

A few fun facts about each of us:

Our oldest two daughters are only 5 months apart! Caroline is a talented artist. Elizabeth has a passion for horses. Abbey can make anyone laugh in a second. Steven plays in a weekly recreational golf league. Erin has run in over 20 races in the last two years, including two half marathons.

One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents:

We see our roles as parents as our responsibility to provide a nurturing and supportive environment for our children to grow and fully develop into the people they were created to be. Our intention as parents is for our children to always know they matter, they are worthy and they are loved.
