Why we want to be parents:
We want to provide our child with unconditional love, support and guidance. We want to watch them grow and teach them to be kind, resilient, and thoughtful. We love being godparents to two of our siblings’ kids. Having a family of our own would be a dream come true.
What activities we look forward to doing with a child:
We will go on adventures to the zoo and to museums. We will read together, play sports, swim, and take family trips around Michigan, the US, and the world.
Our ethnic/cultural background:
Samkeliso is African American (born in Zimbabwe) and Joseph is Caucasian American (born in Detroit)
The people/pets who make up our family:
Joe has five older siblings. Sam has three younger siblings. Between us we have 17 nieces and nephews, and we are godparents to two. We have a cat (Mango) and a golden retriever puppy (Reece).
Family celebrations that are important to us:
Birthdays, Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July, annual summer family reunions, visits to Sam’s family in Africa are all celebrations that are important to us.

Fun activities we like to do:
Sam – playing Scrabble, painting and being creative, shopping, reading, singing, interior design, meditation, traveling and seeing new things with Joe
Joe – playing all sports but especially basketball, traveling with Sam, listening to podcasts, reading, playing cards, going to the theatre
Where we live (city, rural, community):
We live in Canton, MI (10 Miles East of Ann Arbor)
A few fun facts about each of us:
Samkeliso – learned to swim at 38 years old, knows the lyrics for 1000s of songs and loves karaoke, loves shrimp in everything
Joseph – knows every fact about University of Michigan football going back 100 years; excellent poker and euchre player, great cook
One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents:
Sam is very patient, knowledgeable, embraces family and loves to teach. Joe is good listener, understands what makes people tick and loves to make others happy. We would make a good family team.
