Pat and I would like to start off by saying, if you select us to be the parents of your baby, you would be giving us a very precious gift! To be told that decision would make us, as well as our families, very happy!
Why we think we will make good parents
We have been married for 8 years, and have always wanted to be parents. Unfortunately, we have been unable to conceive. Pat comes from a huge family – 11 aunts and uncles, and over 100 cousins – so we are used to large families! We were hoping to have 3 or 4 children ourselves, but at this point, we will feel very blessed if even 1 child could join our family! Pat and I love to do outdoor activities – we walk our 2 dogs daily, we go kayaking, camping, and we like to have bonfires in the summer. We also have a boat, and love to go boating every weekend! We have great beaches in our town, so we like to go there and swim as well.
The people/pets/things/ that make up our family:
At home, it is just Pat and I, and our 2 dogs, Gracie and Callie. Pat has 1 half-sister, 1 step-brother, and 2 step-sisters. Becky has 1 sister. We have 6 nieces, but no nephews – yet. We also have parents that are involved in our lives – Pat has his mom, and his dad and step-mom, and Becky has both of her parents as well, so our little one would have grandparents and aunts and uncles that would love to spend time with them!
Things our family celebrates
We celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Easter, as well as other holidays like the 4th of July, and New Years. And we celebrate birthdays. Pat and I usually host Easter at our house, and we travel to our parent’s houses for Christmas and Thanksgiving. If we are lucky enough to be able to adopt, we plan to celebrate our little one’s adoption day as well.
Religion and/or Spiritual Beliefs
Pat and I are Christian, and attend church regularly.
Things we like to do (activities and hobbies):
Becky likes to read, and we have a great library in our town, so we would love to take our little one to the library. We also like to watch movies together as a family. In the summer, we like to grill outside, and listen to music. We have a lot of great friends that we like to get together with, and all of our friends have children, so if we were able to adopt a child, they would have lots of friends to play with!
Our ethnic background
Pat and I are Caucasian.
Where we live
We live in a medium-size town (about 3,800 people) in Michigan. Our town is on Lake Michigan, so we are blessed to see the beautiful water every day – not to mention the amazing sunrises and sunsets! Our town has great restaurants, and we enjoy going out to eat. It also has several parks, which are great for kids. And it has many trails, so we like to ride our bikes, or go hiking on the trails.
Some fun facts about us
Pat loves sports – he plays basketball and hockey. He likes to watch football and baseball on tv. We love going to Red Wings hockey games and Tiger baseball games together. Becky likes to read, and working outside in her garden in the summer. We have a ton of beautiful flower gardens around our house! We live up on a hill, so we always say that it feels like we are living in a tree house! We have a lot of windows in our house, so you can look outside, and see the tops of the trees. It is amazing in the fall when the leaves turn colors!
One thing we would like the Birth Family to know about us
One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents: Like we said above, we have always wanted to be a family. Pat and I have a great marriage, and we are very happy with our lives, but we just feel that something is missing. We had always hoped to have children to share all of the things we like to do with. We have supportive families, and they would be absolutely thrilled to have another child join our family! Becky is a child and family counselor, and works in a school with kids, so she has had many years of experience being around children. We hope that you will be interested in knowing more about us, and would consider picking us to be the possible parents of your child! Thank you!
