Joel & Alessia
Why we want to be parents:
After struggling with fertility issues for several years we’ve decided that adoption is the way we would love to start our family. We’ve always looked forward to watching a child grow and teaching them, as we experience everything that life has to offer with them.
What activities we look forward to doing with a child:
We are looking forward to sharing our love of nature, sports, reading and cooking with a child as we help them explore and develop their own interests. We are also excited to travel with them as we learn about different cultures, cuisines and ways of life.
The people/pets who make up our family:
In our home we have 3 very friendly cats and a 65 pound lap dog. Alessia’s tight knit family all live within close proximity and look forward to welcoming the first grandchild on that side. Joel’s family is spread out across the US and is looking forward to future visits.
Our ethnic/cultural background:
We both come from German roots.
Family celebrations that are important to us:
Celebrations are very important to our family and we get together for every holiday including holidays that Alessia’s family has made up such as Pie Night and Last Blast Before Summers Past.
Any religious identification:
We have no religious affiliation.
Fun activities we like to do:
We enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, swimming and boating. Alessia enjoys yoga and reading while Joel enjoys photography and cooking.
Where we live (city, rural, community):
We live in a small town in metro Detroit that has great restaurants, parks and schools.
A few fun facts about each of us:
We have a strong sense of adventure and love to travel! We like to camp all over Michigan and look forward to visiting all National Parks throughout our lifetime. Joel plays guitar, enjoys photography and is very artistic. Alessia enjoys researching and planning vacations as much as she enjoys going on them. She is also crafty and loves to make desserts.
One thing we would like the birth family to know about us/why we would be good parents:
We believe that a child can never have a large enough support system that loves them. Our family and friends are very excited to welcome a new baby into the group! We want the birth family to know that based on their comfort level, we hope to build strong and lasting relationships with them as well.
